Yes, it's one of the most famous inventors in rock history, Leo Fender! His company was the first to mass-manufacture a solid body electric guitar, the Fender Broadcaster, back in 1948. This put the instrument within reach of many generations of future rock and rollers.

A couple of years later Fender changed the name of the instrument to the Telecaster. In 1954 he introduced the Stratocaster and with it, the tremolo bar. Those two guitars remain among the most popular choices for a wide range of classic rock's most popular and innovative players, including Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck.
