Leslie West, Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth Join Forces for ’3 Guitar Heroes’ Tour
Guitar heroes Uli Jon Roth, Michael Schenker and Leslie West will combine forces in a tour titled, appropriately enough, 3 Guitar Heroes. All three guitarists will play sets, and the concerts will end with them jamming together.
“My manager Bob and I have been discussing a run like this for ages, and when the opportunity came up I hopped on board,” said Mountain mainman West. “These guys are monster players and this should be a lot of fun.”
Schenker, the legendary Scorpions/UFO/solo axemaster, added, “It is very exciting to be part of a tour that has very deeply rooted connections with two guitarists that have been at their best since the start of their careers… Leslie is the last guitarist I ever copied.”
West will, no doubt, win the tour’s iron man award; he’s hitting the road shortly after having a leg amputed. Roth, also formerly of the Scorpions, has appeared with Smashing Pumpkins and continued to push the envelope as a performer and designer.
