NBC has started putting together a cast of contestants for the first season of its new Celebrity Apprentice series, and Vince Neil is the first to sign on.

TMZ reports that Neil “jumped at the opportunity” to compete on the rejiggered show, which parted ways with longtime host Donald Trump after Trump announced his presidential campaign. Arnold Schwarzenegger has taken over in Trump’s absence, and as per the show’s name, will preside over a group of celebrities vying for a prize to be donated to the charity of their choice.

Although no other cast members have been announced, Neil’s in relatively good company as far as previous rock star Celebrity Apprentice contestants go; in years past, the show has played host to Gene Simmons, Bret Michaels and Dee Snider, among others. The network has yet to go public with a debut airdate for the new season, which will mark the show’s eighth overall, but it’s reportedly targeting a September return.

As previously reported, Neil quickly hit the road after concluding Mötley Crüe‘s Final Tour on New Year’s Eve, performing a set list stuffed with Crüe hits at the start of a brief batch of solo dates. He’s also no stranger to reality TV, having previously booked appearances on a list of shows that includes Celebrity Wife Swap, Ghost Adventures and The Haunting Of …

TMZ’s report refers to Neil as being “ready to transition to a reality TV star,” but in recent interviews, he’s indicated an eagerness to renew his focus on his solo career. “I love being onstage, I can’t just sit around doing nothing,” he said. “I love touring, and I’m putting out another solo record with my band, and working on a Las Vegas show — there’s a lot of stuff planned out that I’m looking forward to doing. Mötley Crüe takes up a lot of your time.”
