Van Halen Hint at Early February New Album Release

In addition to announcing plans to hit the road in 2012, Van Halen have also seemed to hint at details of their much-anticipated reunion album. The disc could very well hit stores Feb. 7, if the graphic to the left is any indication of what the band has in store for fans.

Then again, maybe not. It’s really not clear exactly what the “2.7.12″ refers to — album release date? single release date? something else? — but some news outlets are interpreting a mass email mailed out yesterday with the subject “The Future” as the actual title of the VH album. ‘The Future’? It has a nice ring to it, but we wouldn’t start getting used to that name just yet.

Whatever it is called, the new VH album was produced by Ross Hogarth and is the band’s first full-length with singer David Lee Roth since the release of ’1984,’ which dropped on the last day of 1983. Yes, that’s nearly 30 long years without a DLR-fronted Van Halen album. No wonder fans are getting restless.

In the meantime, we point you to check out the streaming VH tour teaser clips we mentioned yesterday (the link is at the bottom of the page). The promo videos reportedly were recently filmed at Los Angeles’ the Roxy at the same as a video was shot for a brand-new Van Halen song — the song that could be the first comeback single and could be released Feb. 7.

Also, it’s worth mentioning that they’ve switched back to the old version of their logo, as opposed to the one they were using with Sammy Hagar with the wings forming a full loop behind the V and H. It’s the little things …
