In a move that's sure to silence persistent doubters and reasonable cynics everywhere, Van Halen appears committed to prolonging its latest reunion with long-estranged frontman David Lee Roth well into the summer of 2013.

Today, the band completed by brothers Edward and Alex Van Halen, plus Eddie's son Wolfgang, confirmed its intention to headline this year's Rock USA at Ford Festival Park in Oshkosh, Wisc. taking place July 17-20. This is the first American show Van Halen has announced for 2013. Last month they revealed that they will play Australia's Stone Music Festival on April 20.

Van Halen's announcement is bound to be music to local residents' ears - pun intended - since the band was forced to skip a planned appearance in the region just last year as one of the 31 concerts they canceled because they, in Diamond Dave's words, "bit off more than they could chew."

And as befits a band with its incomparable history, Van Halen will top the four-day festival's final night, putting what one can only hope is a memorable capper to the following, impressive hard rock lineup:

July 17: Avenged Sevenfold, Buckcherry, Saliva
July 18: Bret Michaels, Queensryche, Great White, Slaughter
July 19: Godsmack, Chevelle, Sevendust
July 20: Van Halen, Ratt, Jackyl, Dokken

Now fans in northern Wisconsin simply have to hold their collective breath and pray against any tragic ego implosions that might derail the notoriously combustible Lee Roth/Van Halen partnership before their 'train' can pull into their station.

But again, VH has been proving naysayers wrong throughout the past year, since the release of its comeback album, 'A Different Kind of Truth,' so bet against them at your peril.

Tickets for the event are already on sale at the festival's website, with reduced prices in effect until March 14.
