Tommy Lee is now telling his side of this past Monday's altercation between him and his son, Brandon, that resulted in the former Motley Crue drummer being knocked unconscious, for which Lee is pressing charges. In a lengthy statement, he denied that he was a "deviant alcoholic abuser" and blamed ex-wife Pamela Anderson for turning their two sons, whom he repeatedly says he loves, against him.

The statement was given to TMZ, and can be read in full there. Calling it "depressing and out of control," he said the problems started as a result of numerous recent Anderson interviews where she brought up their marriage, all at a time following Lee's recent engagement to Brittany Furlan last month. "The fact that Pamela would ignore my pleas for her to stop pushed me over the edge," he wrote. "I messaged her several times asking her to stop taking these interviews, that was hurting me and the boys, and she would ignore me."

Because Lee was so often on tour when their sons were growing up, he said, Anderson "became the hero" to them. "The boys have been poisoned against me sadly. ... I've come to peace with that," he continued, but added that "I won't let them be in my house and disrespect me like they did. I think they just need some time to learn how to be on their own. They've been given everything their entire lives, never been reprimanded, never had to work for anything. I want them to get jobs, stable jobs, consistent jobs, not their inconsistent modeling and acting work here and there that doesn't make enough money for them to survive. I want them to learn what it takes to take care of yourself."

On Monday, according to Lee, Brandon "came in the room angry about my response to Pamela's relentless press about our old relationship, with his dukes up, telling me to get up and fight him. When I stood up he pushed me into a wall. I didn't want to hit my son. I never have and I never will. If I wanted to clock him I would have knocked him on his ass. He had no problem knocking me out. I asked him to leave and he spun around and sucker punched me. Knocked me unconscious."

He admitted that he probably shouldn't have posted the picture of himself with a swollen lip on Instagram (which he has since deleted), but "I couldn't believe that he was not apologizing or responding to my messages, and didn't care that he knocked me unconscious and filmed my unconscious body laughing."

While he acknowledged his "abusive past" and that he's learned from mistakes and has been in therapy, he contradicted Brandon's story that alcohol played any role in the incident. "Do I drink? Yes. Do I drink more than the average Joe? Yes. Have I ever hurt my sons or acted out of turn with them because of my drinking? No. My fiancé barely drinks. We don't do any hard drugs, I haven't in years. No matter how much people wanna pin me as this deviant alcoholic abuser, that isn't me. I'm a happy fun loving guy. I'm joking around all the time, and people take it the wrong way sadly."

This morning, Anderson issued a statement of her own, where she said that that Lee was "a disaster spinning out of control" and that she prays he "gets the help he needs." "I have always tried only to set record straight," she said. "Trying to paint him as not a bad guy. Just one who is human and made mistakes. He still cannot handle the guilt about his abusive behavior and has never taken responsibility for what he has done. Let’s hope this will be his saving grace."
