Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ big 40th anniversary tour just got a little bit bigger.

The group’s 2017 commitments were already scheduled to keep them on the road from late April through late July, but they’re still adding dates: Petty reps have just announced that four more shows have been tacked on to the trek, including extra nights in Boston and Philadelphia as well as fresh stops in Vancouver and Seattle.

The new additions, which will see Petty and the Heartbreakers performing with support from J. Geils Band frontman Peter Wolf at the Boston and Philadelphia stops and the Lumineers in Vancouver and Seattle, bump the end of the tour back to Aug. 19 — and open a gap in the itinerary big enough to fit a few more shows.

Padding out an already-announced tour is nothing new for rock’s bigger acts, but in this case, it could be a sign that Petty is trying to squeeze every last show out of what he suspects might be the band’s last big hurrah.

“I’m thinking it may be the last trip around the country,” he recently hinted. “It’s very likely we’ll keep playing, but will we take on 50 shows in one tour? I don’t think so. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was thinking this might be the last big one. We’re all on the backside of our 60s. I have a granddaughter now I’d like to see as much as I can. I don’t want to spend my life on the road. This tour will take me away for four months. With a little kid, that’s a lot of time.”

It’s worth noting that Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell said he’s been hearing Petty threaten that for the past 10 years, but if you can get out to see the band this summer, you might want to take the opportunity. Look over the previously announced dates as well as the newly added ones below, and visit Petty’s official site for detailed ticketing information.
