Tom Petty's 'American Girl' was front and center on NBC's 'The Voice' tonight, as the duo the LiNE made up of Hailey Steele and Leland Grant performed the song for their blind audition on the show.

The pair met when Grant hit on Hailey at a bar, but while they didn't romantically connect they found out that they both had a passion for music and began writing songs together.

The LiNE performed a country-tinged, uptempo version of the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers classic, impressing all four celebrity coaches, who pressed their approval buttons and spun around in their Star Trek-looking chairs.

The duo was then forced to choose between country crooner Blake Shelton, pop star Christina Aguilera, R&B singer Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine. Even though Shelton seemed like the obvious for the country-leaning duo, they ended up choosing Aguilera as their coach.
