Tom Hamilton Says Aerosmith Fans Didn’t Do Their Homework

Were you one of the many who perhaps felt that Aerosmith’s most recent work didn’t measure up to the band’s previous efforts? Well, according to the group’s irreverent bass player, you only have yourself to blame for that.

In an interview with the Las Vegas Review Journal, the ever-candid Tom Hamilton pointed the finger in the fans’ direction for the less-than stellar response to their latest record, ‘Music From Another Dimension!‘ “I feel like the fans didn’t do their homework on it,” he said. “They didn’t let it grow on them. C’est la vie. We’ll try harder next time.”

Hamilton went on to voice his reservations about guitarist Joe Perry’s plan to release a solo record. “It would make a lot more sense if we’re building up material, to consider an Aerosmith album first,” he posited. “I think an Aerosmith album has got much more potential of making an impact than a solo album, but, if somebody wants to put out a solo album, there’s no way to be bitter and hold them back.”

Recently, Perry himself questioned the idea of putting out another record as a band, but left the door open for a different format altogether. “I know we’re going to want to go in and make new music at some point, but I don’t know if that means waiting until you have 12 songs you think are good enough,” he said. “Maybe it should be two or three songs and then you release it, and a while later you put out a couple more songs.”
