Two of the most famous bands of all time -- the Rolling Stones and the Kinks -- square off against each other in the semifinal round of the first-ever 100% fan-voted Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame election.

Each month, your votes will determine which of eight legendary artists or bands is immortalized forever for their contributions to classic rock history. The Kinks, creators of both some of the most famous riffs and most cohesive and influential concept albums ever, earned their spot in the semifinals by defeating the Moody Blues 68 to 32% in round one. You can check out the Top 10 Kinks Songs if you'd like a reminder of why they deserve your vote.

Their rivals in this poll, the Rolling Stones, have both the resume and the balls to label declare themselves the "World's Greatest Rock and Roll Band," and five decades on it's hard to say anybody has taken that title belt away from them. Check out our list of the Top 100 Rolling Stones Songs if you need a refresher course.

Only one of these two great groups gets to move onto the finals. Your votes, which you can register once a day from now until 11:59PM ET on Sunday, March 24, will determine who that is. You can read the Hall of Fame's official rules right here, and be sure to mark your calendars for April 1, when the first entrant into the Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame is revealed.
