"Four to one baby / One on four / Which of these legends gets out alive?" OK, we're paraphrasing a bit, but the fact is only Van Morrison or the Doors can move onto the May 2013 Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame finals, since they're pitted against each other in this week's semifinals. Each month, our readers will determine which of eight legendary artists or bands is immortalized forever for their contributions to classic rock history.

So far the Doors are making the best of the second chance they earned by being the runners-up in last month's Hall of Fame voting, losing out only to the Beatles. They trounced the Velvet Underground by a nearly nine-to-one margin in round one this month on the strength of their unique, brooding blend of rock, jazz, soul, pop and blues.

Which puts them up against perhaps Northern Ireland's finest singer / songwriter in Van Morrison. For nearly 50 years now, he's been leading fans deeper and deeper into the mystic with one of rock's finest voices. A quick trip through our list of the Top 10 Van Morrison Songs should explain what he's doing in this competition. He beat Traffic in the closest of our round one battles this month.

"Why Isn't My Favorite Band Nominated for the UCR Hall of Fame?"

So which of these intense, poetic frontmen gets their shot at rock and roll immortality? That's up to you. Readers can vote once a day from now until 11:59PM ET on May 19. You can read the Hall of Fame’s official rules right here. Be sure to mark your calendars for June 1, when the third entrant into the Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame is revealed.
