You want a battle of big names to kick off the second monthly Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame election? OK... How about the Doors vs. David Bowie? Each month, our readers will determine which of eight legendary artists or bands is immortalized forever for their contributions to classic rock history.

We don't envy your choice this time out. With an unconventional, bass-less lineup fronted by charismatic, controversial frontman Jim Morrison, the Doors brought an unparalleled sense of mystery and poetry to rock and roll on classic albums such as their self-titled 1967 debut and their 1971 swan song 'L.A. Woman.'

Then again, no conversation about the pioneers of theatrical rock and roll would be complete without Mr. Ziggy Stardust / Aladdin Sane / Thin White Duke himself. Of course, as this list of the Top 10 David Bowie Songs shows, this legend's 45-year and counting career is about much, much more than groundbreaking visuals and a one-of-a-kind fashion sense.

So which of these two icons gets to move on to round two of this month's Hall of Fame election? Well, you tell us! You can vote once a day in each of our four opening round matchups from now until 11:59PM ET on Sunday, April 14. You can read the Hall of Fame's official rules right here. Be sure to mark your calendars for May 1, when the second entrant into the Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame is revealed.
