Faces

The Faces were formed in England out of the remains of the Small Faces when Jeff Beck Group singer Rod Stewart and guitarist Ronnie Wood joined bassist Ronnie Lane, keyboardist Ian McLagan and drummer Kenney Jones. They didn't last long, but the handful of albums they made have been an influence on bands looking for a little bluesy, boozy sway to go with their Stones-like crunch. Hopes for a reunion over the years were dimmed after the deaths of Lane (in 1997) and McLagan (in 2014). In addition to playing on their own records, like the classic 'A Nod Is as Good as a Wink ... to a Blind Horse,' the band backed Stewart on his hit LP 'Every Picture Tells a Story.'

As Ronnie Wood noted, the lead vocalists for the legendary bands slated for induction at the 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony were “dropping like flies" in the days leading up to the event. However the rest of the musicians, including Wood's former band the Faces, managed to make it a memorable night anyway.

Unlike one artist being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday night, the the Faces / Small Faces are embracing the honor. Sometime today (Friday, April 13) the rockers will rehearse the three songs they'll play at the ceremony the next night, although it's anyone's guess which three songs that will be.

Classic rock fans may not be getting the Guns N' Roses reunion that they were hoping for at next month's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, but one long-disbanded group will be reuniting. The Faces, who were living the sex, drugs and rock n' roll lifetstyle before any of the Gunners had gotten their first tattoos, will perform for the first time together since 1993.
