Jeff Beck

Jeff Beck made his name playing guitar for the Yardbirds, replacing Eric Clapton during the band's commercial peak. After he left in 1966 (leaving the group in the hands of another capable guitarist, Jimmy Page), he formed the Jeff Beck Group, which included Rod Stewart and Ron Wood. Since the '70s, Beck has experiments on solo albums that blend pop, rock, R&B and jazz. His fluid style has made him one of rock's all-time leading guitar players, as well as a popular collaborator (he participated in Robert Plant's Honeydrippers project in the '80s along with Page). Beck was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.

For much of Jeff Beck's career, recording has often appeared to take a lower priority than, say, working on vintage cars. However, he admits that his upcoming record -- his first since 2010's 'Emotion & Commotion' -- is "a very important album for me."
