For the Eagles'Glenn Frey, popular singing televised contests like 'American Idol' and 'X Factor' are nothing more than an opportunity for singing hopefuls to take the stage and oversing. He has a message for its contestants: Tone it down a bit.

When Don Henley and Glenn Frey set about authorizing the new documentary 'History of the Eagles,' they took the unusual step of securing an Oscar-winning filmmaker to produce -- because, as Frey put it in a recent interview with the New York Times, "Our management sent me what they thought were some of the best music documentaries that had been done. And I wasn’t crazy about any of it."
The Eagles' Glenn Frey caught the acting bug after making a memorable appearance on a 'Miami Vice' episode featuring his single 'Smuggler's Blues,' and he parlayed that into several TV and film appearances in the years to follow. One of those happened in 1996 when he made a cameo in the Cameron Crowe sports film, 'Jerry Maguire.'
Glenn Frey chatted with 97.1 WASH FM before his May gig in the nation's capital, taking some time to promote his solo gigs. Of course the topic of the the Eagles came up, because really, how can it not?
As we reported back in March, Eagles member Glenn Frey's new record 'After Hours' was going to be unlike anything that the musician had released in the past. The first video from the album proves this point quite clearly.
On May 8, Glenn Frey of the Eagles will release his first solo album since 1992. To promote 'After Hours,' Frey spoke with Rolling Stone, who are always willing to give some high-profile press one of their legacy artists. After a few cursory questions about the new album, which is a collection of standards from the 'Great American Songbook,' reporter Andy Greene asked him how, or if, the Eagles are planning to celebrate their 40th anniversary.
After taking a 20-year break from solo albums, the Eagles' Glenn Frey is ready to step back into the spotlight -- but don't expect new songs from the man who brought you 'Sexy Girl' and 'The One You Love.' Instead, Frey is delivering a collection of pop standards, titled 'After Hours.'
