Styx Supporting New Live DVD With TV Special, U.S. Tour

The new year is already off to a great start for Styx, who have a lot of irons in the fire only days into 2012. In addition to the band’s new live DVD set for release later this month, the iconic outfit is also gearing up to hit the road this year on a U.S. tour that will keep them on the road through a March 10 gig in Silver Springs, Fla.

But the road is not the only place fans can catch the band this month. Styx will be seen all over the television airwaves throughout January with a flurry of television programs — both old and new — including the band’s classic episode of VH1’s ‘Behind the Music’ (now called ‘Behind the Music Remastered’) set to air tonight (Saturday, Jan. 14 at 9PM ET) on VH1 Classic.

Next up is ‘Improve-Ice Starring Styx,’ airing tomorrow (Sunday, Jan. 15) at 4PM ET. The special was filmed in Greenville, S.C., and will feature champion figure skaters such as Nancy Kerrigan, Johnny Weir, Michael Weiss and others skating along to various Styx classics.

And as if that wasn’t enough to keep your Styx fix going, the HDNet channel will re-broadcast the 2006 concert special, ‘One With Everything — Styx and the Contemporary Youth Orchestra of Cleveland,’ on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 9PM ET.

The band is hitting the road this week, where they have actively been promoting the forthcoming release of their new DVD, ‘Styx: The Grand Illusion/Pieces Of Eight Live,’ which will hit stores Jan. 31. A list of Styx tour dates thus far can be seen below.
