Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler leads the cast of old and new school bands showing their respect and love for ZZ Top on the upcoming covers album 'A Tribute From Friends,' which drops Oct. 11. Each track features a different band taking on a classic ZZ Top tune in versions specifically recorded for this particular release.

The album opens with 'Sharp Dressed Man,' which is retooled and re-imagined by The M.O.B., a Mick Fleetwood-led band that includes his Fleetwood Mac bandmate John McVie, Tyler and guitarist Johnny Lang. Fleetwood was stoked to be a part of this collection, saying, "We’re delighted to honor ZZ Top this way. Their legacy, like that of the original Fleetwood Mac, is steeped in the blues we all love so much. I know that Steven and Johnny feel as strongly about their legacy as John and I do.”

Metal bands like Mastodon and urban stars like Wyclef Jean, along with prog rockers such as Coheed & Cambria, appear on the compilation as well, giving it a universal, ageless appeal.

ZZ Top were understandably stoked about this celebration of their catalog. They issued the following statement about the tribute: "When we were told there was going to be a ZZ Top tribute album a while ago, (we) logically asked, ‘Who are we paying tribute to?’ Then we found out that a bunch of great artists were paying tribute to us and we were in disbelief. We're so delighted that our music resonates with these great musicians whom we so admire.”
