Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler sang the band's classic hit 'Dream On' just prior to the announcement of the Season 10 winner on the popular singing competition show tonight.

Well, to be more accurate, the coolest of the 'American Idol' judges sang about 1/3 of the song. He moved swiftly from accompanying himself on piano during the introductory verse to prowling the stage with his beloved scarf-covered microphone stand, singing the living hell out of the song's final climactic chorus.

So, if you want to look at it in strictly mathematical terms, 1/5 of Aerosmith performed 1/3 of one of their songs, and it still pretty much blew away all the other performances on the two-hour pop-fest. That is, in our extremely biased evaluation, anyway.

Now that 'Idol' is over -- the deep-voiced country kid who looks like the guy from MAD magazine won -- maybe Aerosmith can add some U.S. shows to their plans, in addition to the Latin American trek they just announced.

Judas Priest and U2's Bono and the Edge also performed on 'Idol' tonight, you can read about and see their performances by clicking on their names earlier in this sentence. Lastly, comedian Jack Black performed a comical (we didn't say funny) version of Queen's 'Fat Bottomed Girls' alongside eliminated 'Idol' contestant Casey Abrams.
