Steven Adler and Matt Sorum Want More Metal in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

For many, the induction of Guns N’ Roses into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a sort of validation of hard rock and metal. After all, it’s long been a point of contention among rock fans that certain popular and influential bands of the 1970s and 1980s have been overlooked by the museum. An video interview with former Gunners Steven Adler and Matt Sorum reveals the drummers to be in agreement with the masses.

“It’s such an honor to be inducted into the Hall Of Fame, but Kiss isn’t in here, and then I found out the other day that Rush isn’t in here,” Adler told Rolling Stone. “They’ve got to be inducted. If it wasn’t for those bands and a couple other ones, there would have never been a GNR.”

Kiss and Rush, the two bands most often cited as deserving to be inducted, aren’t the only acts missing. In paying what Sorum called “maximum respect” to the bands that came before them, the friends listed Journey, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest as bands that have been unjustly overlooked.

With a smile, Adler said that it was “almost wrong” that Guns N’ Roses were honored before those legendary bands. “I stole everything from everybody that we just mentioned,” he added.
