Starship’s ‘We Built This City’ – Reality Singing Show Fails

It was bad enough when Jefferson Airplane fully completed their transition to Starship, but things got a little worse when this unidentified four-piece decided to audition for ‘X Factor’ in the U.K. by using Starship’s slice of ’80s cheese, ‘We Built This City.’

Things start out well enough with some initial harmonizing, but it starts to break down with one singer taking a rather weak lead while the other members botch the backup. It doesn’t take Simon Cowell long to suggest that they save it for Christmas caroling. The gut-wrenching critique hit this foursome hard, as their crestfallen reaction and pleas for support actually convinced one of the judges to reconsider.
