As the lineup for the 2012 Experience Hendrix tribute tour has expanded, so has the number of dates for the annual concert trek honoring the late, great Jimi Hendrix.

This year's edition is now up to 21 dates, including recently added concert stops in Florida and Colorado, plus a second show in Austin, Texas.

The entire tour, featuring a rotating cast of big-name guitarists including Aerosmith's Brad Whitford, will cross the United States in March. Robby Krieger of the Doors is among those scheduled to perform on the last six dates.

Unlike many of the Experience Hendrix tour participants, Krieger did cross paths with Hendrix, sitting next to him on a flight to England on their way to their respective performances at the 1970 Isle of Wight festival.

Prior to that, Krieger recalls being blown away the first time he heard Hendrix's music and shortly thereafter decided to step up his game.

"I'd been into blues before," Krieger told Ultimate-Guitar.com in 2009, "[but] when I heard that [Hendrix] would sit down and pick apart Albert King licks and stuff like that, you know, that kind of was a light bulb on my brain because I'd never really done that. Before that, rock 'n' roll guitar to me was more of a means than an end, you know what I mean? I didn't really consider rock 'n' roll guitar as being that big of a deal until [Hendrix] came out."
