Veteran guitarist Slash has recruited R&B queen Mary J. Blige to guest on his second solo album, which he reportedly resumed working on recently. The axeman revealed the news via twitter: “Just finished a session with Mike Clink engineering on a track with Mary J Blige. Sounds killer!”

The former Guns n' Roses / Velvet Revolver guitarist has always been generous with studio time for his musician friends in the past, appearing as a guest performer on recordings by Lenny Kravitz, Sammy Hagar and many more.

In 2010, with the release of his debut album, 'Slash,' the axeman turned the tables and invited friends to join with him. Ian Astbury, Lemmy Kilmeister and Iggy Pop were a few of the artists who showed up, proving once again that Slash works exceptionally well with others.

His last single, 'Beautiful Dangerous,' featured pop diva Fergie, so the fact that he's now working with R&B superstar Blige shouldn’t come as that big of a surprise. The new Slash recording is scheduled for an April 2012 release.
