In what might be the oddest clash of musical styles from the sixteen first-round match-ups of our March Drum Madness competition, Judas Priest's Scott Travis takes on John Densmore of the Doors.

We've placed 32 of the most famous drummers in classic rock history into our March Drum Madness bracket. Over the coming weeks, their ranks will be cut in half in each of five rounds until we arrive at your choice for the greatest rock drummer of all time.

Travis made an extremely strong impression upon joining Judas Priest in 1990, adding new levels of speed and precision to their sound on the hard-hitting Painkiller album. He's been with them ever since, most recently contributing to last year's well-received Redeemer of Souls. During their all-too-brief time together, Densmore anchored the Doors' unconventional lineup, giving structure to Jim Morrison's wild poetic stylings on songs like "Break on Through (To the Other Side)" and "L.A. Woman."

So the choice is yours ... screaming heavy metal or "Roadhouse Blues"? You can vote once per hour in each of our 16 opening March Drum Madness battles until the first round closes on March 23 at 11:59PM ET. The ultimate winner will be revealed on April 7.
