Just days after the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge brought Bon Jovi fans hope of a reunion between estranged partners Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, Sammy Hagar has used his challenge video to reach out to his former Van Halen bandmates Alex and Eddie Van Halen.

In the clip, which you can watch above, Hagar credits his Chickenfoot cohort Joe Satriani with challenging him and quickly pays it forward, saying, "Red Rocker, Sammy Hagar. I accept Joe Satriani's challenge, but I'm gonna write a big, fat check -- and being a California person, I'm gonna conserve water and jump in this ice cold lake. Eddie and Alex Van Halen, I challenge you to do the same."

As Van Halen fans are well aware, relations have been strained between Hagar and the Van Halen brothers for most of the past 20 years -- and of all the guys currently in the band, we'd put our money on singer David Lee Roth to make a video first (and it'd probably be a pretty epic production involving fire, samurai swords and bikini-clad models). But this marks at least the second time Eddie's been called out -- he was recently challenged (along with Roth and John Mayer) by renowned guitarist and ALS patient Jason Becker.

Perhaps we'll see an ice bucket video from the entire Van Halen lineup soon (preferably with some new music providing the soundtrack). In the meantime, you can check out our classic rock ALS Ice Bucket Roundup post, featuring challenge videos from some of your favorite artists, right here.
