Rush May Not Tour in 2015 After All

Alex Lifeson may have spoken too soon. Only a few weeks after the guitarist optimistically said that Rush were talking about a tour for 2015, bassist Geddy Lee said that they haven’t yet determined their next move.

“We’re still talking,” Lee told Rolling Stone in a new interview. “Everybody has a different idea how they want to spend the next couple of years, so we haven’t come to a decision. I’m ready and happy to play if everyone else agrees.”

Lee said that he’d prefer to begin work on the follow-up to 2012’s ‘Clockwork Angels‘ than go back out on the road, but that it will ultimately be a group decision. “It’s one of those things where everybody enjoyed their break so much,” he continued. “It doesn’t feel like it was very long ago that we played our last show in Kansas City. So it’s like, ‘Do we have to talk about this already?’ But slowly we’re getting around to figuring it out.”

As recently as last month, Lifeson spoke of their intentions for their next spell of dates. “We’re talking about putting a tour together for next spring,” he said. “I can’t believe it’s been 40 years already, but I hope for another 40.”

Today marks the release date of ‘R40,’ a 10-DVD/six Blu-ray box comprised of Rush concerts from their last five tours, with a bonus disc of historical footage.
