Roger Waters Patiently Explains That He Is Still Not a Member of Pink Floyd

Until recently, the prospect of a new Pink Floyd album seemed to good to be true, but now that the long-dormant group has confirmed its upcoming ‘Endless River‘ LP, fans may feel like no dream is too unlikely to wish for — which could explain why a surprising number of people seem to think Floyd co-founder Roger Waters, who quit the band in 1985, returned for ‘Endless River.’

Waters set the record straight in a bemused-sounding Facebook post, noting that people keep asking his wife about the new album he supposedly has coming out in November. “Errhh?” responds Waters. “I don’t have an album coming out, they are probably confused.”

The source of the confusion, guesses Waters, is a bit of wishful thinking on the part of people who have either forgotten Waters is no longer a member of the band or would prefer to pretend ‘Endless River’ reunites the surviving members of Pink Floyd one last time. Alas, this is not the case. “David Gilmour and Nick Mason have an album coming out. It’s called ‘Endless River.’ David and Nick constitute the group Pink Floyd. I, on the other hand, am not part of Pink Floyd,” the post patiently points out. “I left Pink Floyd in 1985, that’s 29 years ago. I had nothing to do with either of the Pink Floyd studio albums ‘Momentary Lapse of Reason’ and ‘The Division Bell,’ nor the Pink Floyd tours of 1987 and 1994, and I have nothing to do with ‘Endless River.’ Phew! This is not rocket science, people. Get a grip.”

So there you have it, Floyd fans: Roger Waters is still perfectly happy to be a solo artist. And now that that’s settled, we can start counting down to the next time someone asks Waters, Gilmour or Mason about a Pink Floyd reunion.
