Roger Waters is giving fans an initial taste of his first album of new material in 25 years.

The former Pink Floyd member posted a brief clip on Instagram of himself in the studio playing bass. He's sitting at a mixing board with producer Nigel Godrich (who's worked with Paul McCartney and Radiohead, among others) next to him.

You can listen to the snippet, which sounds like prime Floyd, below.

In addition to the above clip, Waters posted a photo of himself and Godrich taking a break during the album's sessions.

Waters said last year that he'd begun recording his first set of new songs since 1992's Amused to Death. “We’ve got some really good work in the can,” he told Rolling Stone in October. “We did some work in London and in Los Angeles.”

At first, Waters was planning another concept record -- like his previous solo albums, Amused to Death, 1987's Radio K.A.O.S and 1984's The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking, as well as several Pink Floyd LPs -- but he said that Godrich helped him narrow its focus by cutting parts of the original theme.

“I wrote this whole thing – part magic carpet ride, part political rant, part anguish,” Waters said. “I played this to Nigel, and he goes, “Oh, I like that little bit” – about two minutes long – “and that bit.” And so we’ve been working.”

Even though it's been a quarter century since his last album, Waters has been busy. He resurrected The Wall onstage and made a movie about it, played the successful Desert Trip festival last year and announced another tour for later this year.
