Rod Stewart has announced a two-year concert residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Because shows in "Sin City" apparently need a title, this one's going with a very direct one: Rod Stewart: The Hits.

Actually, it's good Stewart's being clear on his intentions with these shows, which kick off August 24. After all, he's spent much of the last decade mucking about with the 'Great American Songbook' series, five albums filled with his takes on classic pop standards.

This show promises to focus instead on classics such as 'You Wear it Well,' 'Hot Legs,' and 'You're in My Heart.' The promoters promise a state-of-the-art production in an intimate setting, with no fan more than 120 feet from the stage.  In other words, everybody's in danger of getting a soccer ball kicked in their face from Stewart, a noted fan of the sport who frequently launches balls into the crowd.

Stewart recently wrapped up a highly successful co-headlining tour with Stevie Nicks -- three guesses who spent more time with the hairdresser on that one, huh? -- and is still apparently the lone holdout in a potential reunion of the surviving members of the Faces, who are currently doing shows with the guy from Simply Red ("Holding Back the Years") in his place.
