Paul McCartney and Joe Walsh to Appear at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies are traditionally star-studded affairs, and this year’s event will be no different.

Rolling Stone reports that Paul McCartney has joined the list of legends on hand to ring in this year’s class of inductees — a group of presenters that also includes Stevie Wonder, Patti Smith, J. Geils Band singer Peter Wolf and Steve Cropper.

McCartney has agreed to induct his Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr, who’s entering the Hall this year as a solo artist. Wonder is inducting Bill Withers, while Smith is doing the honors for Lou Reed and Wolf is paying tribute to the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

This year’s Rock Hall concert, which will be held along with the ceremony on April 18 at the Public Hall in Cleveland, will also feature a crowd of big names, including Dave Grohl, Joe Walsh, Tom Morello, John Legend and Jimmy Vaughan. But Starr — who boasts a busier touring schedule than many younger acts, courtesy of his ongoing duties as leader of his rotating All-Starr Band — cheekily suggested to the magazine that he might be conspicuously absent once the jam gets started.

“I told Paul that I’m not putting a band together,” said Starr. “If he puts a band together, I’ll do ‘With a Little Help From My Friends.'”

Aside from Starr, Withers, Reed and Butterfield, this year’s list of Rock Hall inductees also includes Stevie Ray Vaughan and Joan Jett. While Vaughan’s set to be inducted by John Mayer, organizers have yet to announce who’ll do the honors for Jett.
