You Think You Know Robert Plant?

In this edition of You Think You Know Classic Rock?, we make intriguing connections, uncover key inspirations and reveal a strange backstage request by former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant.

Did you know the inspiration for Plant’s late-’80s foray into sampling? Or that he was honored with both a platinum award and recognition by an association of facial-hair fans in the same year?

Most people are aware that Led Zeppelin’s “All My Love” was dedicated to Plant’s late son Karac, but it wasn’t the only one. We’ll talk about how the tragedy of losing a child linked two eras of Plant’s hit-making career. And did you know there have been two key collaborators named Phil along the way? They were succeeded by two different versions of a group with a space-themed name, but with a new version of one of Plant’s early, pre-Zeppelin bands in between.

And that’s not all. The above video also details why none of Plant’s old music appeared in theĀ 1993 movie Dazed and Confused, even though it was quite obviously named after a classic Led Zeppelin song. Then we reveal a certain household chore which Plant uses to chill out before the more pressing work of a concert performance. You’ll never look at his onstage outfits quite the same way again.

So dive into our new video about Plant, who’ll appear at the Mountain Jam festival on June 5.
