Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant, who has proven to be one of the most restless and creative spirits in all of rock and roll throughout his now 30-year solo career, turns 64 on Aug. 20.

The singer has become famous in recent years for his habit of forming uniquely constructed backing bands, releasing artistically successful and challenging new records, and then breaking up the band as soon as the tour is over. He's just released a new live album from his latest group, the Sensational Space Shifters.
