REO Speedwagon will share the stage with country singer Sara Evans for an upcoming episode of the long-running CMT Crossroads series.

CMT's website announced the pairing, which is due to air Sept. 19. As with other episodes of the show, "CMT Crossroads: REO Speedwagon and Sara Evans" will find the acts trading songs in front of a live audience — and Speedwagon singer Kevin Cronin says he couldn't be more excited to hear the results.

"We met Sara Evans when REO played with Brad Paisley at the Sony Music Nashville annual cruise, and we all became fast friends," Cronin enthused in a press release. "When we got the offer to do CMT Crossroads with her, we jumped at the chance to hear Sara’s sweet voice on our songs and to put our spin on hers. Sara put me at ease right away, and her energy is contagious."

"I’ve been a huge fan of REO Speedwagon for as long as I can remember," added Evans. "Their songs have been a part of the soundtrack of my life, and I’m thrilled to be joining them on stage for CMT Crossroads. It truly is a dream come true." As Taste of Country notes, while this will mark REO Speedwagon's debut, Evans is a Crossroads veteran; she appeared with Maroon 5 in 2008, and returned four years later to perform with Joe Walsh.

The Crossroads taping, scheduled for later this month, comes in the midst of a typically busy touring season for REO Speedwagon, whose latest album of original material, Find Your Own Way Home, was released in 2007.
