The Kinks' Ray Davies really had us all throughout the '60s and for a brief return in the '80s. The London-born vocalist formed the future Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band with his brother Dave Davies, but ultimately it was that same brotherly competition that split the group.

You know his songs by heart. Top 100 Classic Rock Song 'You Really Got Me,' 'All Day and All of the Night,' Come Dancing' are all instant classics.

Ray turns 68 on June 21, but still likes to get out and play. In recent years, he's employed poppy rockers the 88 to back him up on tour dates, and he performed at last year's Voodoo Music Experience.

For fans of his early days, look for a Kinks BBC Archives collection coming in August.
