Well isn't this just fitting? U.K. music website Gigwise recently held a poll to determine the best band of the last 60 years, coinciding with the 'Queen's Jubilee' celebration overseas and the readers have selectedQueen.

Despite the obvious ties, Queen typically are near the top of most fan-generated polls in the U.K., so their victory is no fluke or bolstered by what inspired the topic in the first place. The Freddie Mercury-led band averaged a 9.26 out of a scale from 1-10 when asked by fans where they felt the group ranked as the best band during the era.

The closest competition for Queen was '90s favorites Nirvana, who averaged an 8.5 out of 10 amongst those voting. They were followed by Elvis Presley, David Bowie, and the Beatles amongst those voting.

On the other end of the scale, given the choices provided, the act earning the lowest score was Def Leppard. They averaged a 3.21 on a scale of 1-10, while Kiss barely eclipsed them at 3.29. The rest of the bottom five included Linkin Park, the Libertines, and Alice Cooper.

Voting remains open here.
