The thing about Queen is that their music appeals to just about everyone -- from pop fans to metal heads to show-tune aficionados -- and for a while there, it seemed like everyone on the planet owned at least one Queen album.

They started as more of a progressive-rock band, with deep concepts surrounded by super-ambitious music. By the time they streamlined their sound and found chart success, everything from cabaret to disco found its way into their music.
