Hear AC/DC Drummer Phil Rudd’s New Solo Single ‘Repo Man’

Just a few days after announcing his upcoming full-length solo debut, AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has unveiled the album’s first single, ‘Repo Man.’

Unsurprisingly, the track — making its debut via lyric video — is every bit the stomping rocker fans could hope for. Rudd, who produced the sessions, tells Noise411 that the songs were inspired by “the s— that goes on” in his day-to-day life, and explained that the somewhat suggestive-sounding album title actually refers to “going to the pub to commiserate with your mates about someone doing your head in.” Due Aug. 29, the record’s track listing reportedly also includes the songs ‘Bad Move’ and ‘Crazy.’

Rudd’s drums have been a crucial component of many of AC/DC’s best songs; he played for the band between 1975-83, then rejoined in 1994, and has remained part of the lineup ever since. He recently wrapped sessions for the group’s as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2008’s ‘Black Ice’ LP, which found them recording without ailing co-founder Malcolm Young. In spite of Young’s absence, Rudd has assured fans that they can expect the same high-voltage rock they’ve come to expect. Saying during a recent interview that he’s “very happy to have it all done,” he added, “It’s all very good, by the way.”

There’s no word yet on when the new AC/DC record will be out, but if ‘Repo Man’ is any indication, Rudd’s ‘Head Job’ should prove a satisfying diversion until it sees release. Check out the video, embedded at the top of this post.
