Former AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has granted his first interview since offering a guilty plea to charges of threatening to kill and drug possession.

Speaking on camera with Australia's A Current Affair, Rudd sounded a note of contrition, referring to the period that led up to his arrest as a "meltdown" and explaining that things all started to go wrong after the disappointing performance of his 2014 solo LP, Head Job.

"I was pretty stressed at the time," says Rudd. "I got back here and the people who I had working for me for this launch — it was a total f---ing disaster. So I was really p---ed off."

Rudd's former bandmates, currently on tour with returned drummer Chris Slade behind their latest album, Rock or Bust, don't appear to be in any rush to resume contact. "I wrote them a letter, I tried to get in contact with [Angus Young]," he claims. "I've had no contact with anybody. ... I'm sure they're having a great old time. I'm sure they're really enjoying playing. I'm sure it really sounds great."

It all represents a very different attitude than the one Rudd displayed in his first post-arrest interview, in which he insisted, "I’m going back to work with AC/DC, I don’t care who likes it or who doesn’t. Everyone listens to the wrong people, they should listen to me." In fact, it appears that as he continues his efforts to avoid jail time, Rudd's focused on turning his life around.

"I've seen the errors of my ways," he says in the segment. "It's onward and upward from here."
