After a relatively quiet summer, our list of September 2013 New Music Releases finds several major classic rock acts releasing new records.

You may want to set aside extra listening time for Sept. 24 in particular, when Elton John, Sammy Hagar and Sting all release new albums.

John's 'The Diving Board' is the long-awaited return to the stripped-down sound of his early '70s records, as evidenced by the first single, 'Home Again.' Hagar's new effort is anything but stripped down, with a galaxy of stars from all musical genres joining in on the aptly named 'Sammy Hagar & Friends.' Sting's album is also a bit of a departure, comprised of tracks from an in-the-works Broadway musical of the same name, which he also helped write.
