The October 2012 New Music Releases calendar finds many of classic rock's heaviest hitters releasing new or archival projects, presumably in preparation for the holiday season.

Nobody's busier than Neil Young, who will release two different projects this month. Hot on the heels of his Sept. 25 memoirs 'Waging Heavy Peace,' on Oct. 16 comes the recent documentary 'Journeys.' This show finds Young roaming the stage all by himself in support of his 2010 'Le Noise' album. Two weeks later he will release his second new Crazy Horse-assisted album of 2012, the double-CD 'Psychedelic Pill.'

The month will also see brand-new, highly anticipated albums from Kiss, Heart, and Jeff Lynne, and vintage concert DVDs from both the Who and the Doors. You can get all the October 2012 new music release dates below, and in most cases, learn more about the projects by clicking on the links in their titles.
