2012 is shaping up to be a pretty good year to be a Neil Young fan: Not only do we have a pair of new albums from Neil and Crazy Horse to look forward to, but his most recent film collaboration with director Jonathan Demme is heading for theaters. Titled 'Neil Young Journeys,' it's been tabbed by Sony Classics Pictures for a June 29 release.

Filmed at the close of his 2011 solo tour, 'Journeys' captures Young on a trip from his hometown of Omemee, Canada to the tour's last two shows, held at Toronto's Massey Hall. Along the way, according to the L.A. Times, Young "reminisces about childhood friends and talks about how the surroundings have changed over the decades while rolling toward Toronto in a 1956 Ford Crown Victoria."

Meanwhile, Young and Demme's last film, 'Neil Young Trunk Show,' remains trapped in limbo while it awaits DVD release. As Demme put it last September, "It's frustrating" -- but given that Young has no shortage of other projects to fill up his schedule, we doubt he's spending much time twisting arms over at Warner Bros. to get it into stores.
