Neil Young's marriage of 36 years to Pegi Young is apparently over. A divorce hearing is scheduled for December, Rolling Stone reports, ending a relationship that also included musical performances that stretched back two decades. They had two children together, Ben and Amber.

No word on how this news impacts a scheduled Sept. 13 joint appearance at Farm Aid 2014 in Raleigh, N.C. The Youngs last performed onstage together last October at the benefit concert for the Bridge School, a nonprofit the couple co-founded in 1986 to educate children with severe physical impairments after Ben was born with cerebral palsy.

Pegi began singing backup with Neil in the '90s, memorably joining him onstage at the Academy Awards ceremony in 1994. She has released three albums of her own over the past seven years and toured extensively as a solo act -- including a series of just-concluded club dates around the U.S.

Over the years, Neil dedicated songs like 'Such a Woman,' 'Once an Angel' and 'Unknown Legend' to Pegi. The latter, from his 1992 album 'Harvest Moon,' retold the story of their meeting, when Pegi was a waitress at a California diner.

The petition for dissolution of marriage was actually filed in their hometown of San Mateo, Calif., on July 29. Neil Young is set to being a series of solo acoustic dates across the U.S. in October. The hearing is set for Dec. 12.
