Motley Crue are going to sizzle on the Sunset Strip Music Festival tonight (Aug.20), when comedian Dane Cook, Ray Manzarek of The Doors, David Johansen of the New York Dolls and ‘The Dirt’ co-author Neil Strauss will converge to "roast" the band for a VIP event at the Hollywood House of Blues.

The evening is being billed as a hybrid of back-patting and roasting. That's a new entertainment convention, isn't it? With Cook on board, and given that fact that drummer Tommy Lee's nether regions are at least as famous as the rest of him is, this shindig is sure to be hilarious.

The Crue have clearly provided the "roasters" with enough source material to generate more than a few good barbs and jabs. We're pretty sure the band’s ‘80s rabble rousing and excessive use of Aqua Net hairspray will be brought up once or twice!

Lee is bracing for impact. Sort of. "I have no idea what they will say, but it's bound to be sometimes serious, sometimes funny and also probably shocking," he told the Los Angeles Times.

The Sunset Strip Music Fest takes place Aug. 18 through Aug. 20, with the Crue serving as guests of honor in celebration of their 30 years of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll. While the Crue party is all well and good, you'll be cursing your luck if you are a non-attending local, as Sunset Blvd. will be closed to vehicles between Doheny and San Vicente Blvd. Which is great, because if there's one thing L.A. needs, it's more traffic, right?
