Why should baseball fans be the only ones to get a special Metallica Night? The metal giants have just expanded their annual sports tradition to include a hockey game scheduled for next month.

Just a couple of weeks after the band announced 2015's Metallica Night with the San Francisco Giants, the group now says it will appear at a game by the San Jose Sharks on Jan. 21. The team will play its rivals the L.A. Kings that night.

According to Metallica's website, they've "been long supporters of the Sharks going back to the mid-'90s, when the team moved permanently to San Jose. ... It's actually pretty fitting that we finally connect with the team for a night of metal and hockey, and we want you to come along and partake of the festivities with us. We'll be on hand for the first strains of 'Seek & Destroy,' kick off the game with the puck drop and partake in some of the intermission fun and games that Sharks fans know and love."

Tickets go on sale this Wednesday, Dec. 17, with part of the sales benefiting the San Francisco Bay Chapter of the Sierra Club. Fans who purchase tickets here will get a special "Metalli-Sharks" shirt.

The Giants game, which is scheduled for May 2, is also against another California team, the Los Angeles Angels. Tickets went on sale a couple weeks ago, but they're still available.
