Earlier this month, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich hinted that a special announcement about an event that would take the band to "another frontier" would be coming soon. Well, it looks like the secret's out in the form of a concert in Antarctica.

Of course, this might not be what Lars was talking about -- we're still kinda rooting for them to be the first band to play in outer space -- but the clues line up. Earth's southernmost continent certainly counts as a new frontier, and the show will be taking place in December, which also matches up with his hints.

According to Overkill.pl, Coca-Cola Zero Columbia will be running a contest through Nov. 9, and two lucky winners will go see the band perform on the frozen continent sometime between Dec. 2 and 15. They're also giving away eight Gibson guitars and 150 sets of Sony headphones.

The tricky part? So far the contest is only open to residents of the cities of Bogota, Villavicencio, Bucaramanga, Cucuta, Medellin and Cali. It's not hard to imagine that this contest might open up to fans in other countries. We'll keep you posted if that happens.
