If you live in North America and want to see Metallica play live this summer, you've only got one chance to make it happen: at the Heavy Montreal festival in August.

The metal titans have confirmed that they'll be part of the lineup for this year's edition of the Canadian festival, joining a roster of suitably heavy acts that includes Slayer, Anthrax, and Lamb of God. "From its inception in 2008, Heavy MTL was created as a festival that would embrace the heavier side of music, from guitar rock to metal and everything in between," enthused organizer Nick Farkas in a statement. "For 2014 we are excited to present a reinvigorated Heavy Montreal. With a brand new look and a programming direction that returns to our roots, 2014 is poised to be Heavy's breakout year."

Metallica's setlist will reportedly be determined entirely by ticket holders, with each purchase coming with a unique code that allows fans to send the band a request. Weekend passes are scheduled to go on sale March 7 at the Heavy Montreal website, with prices for the Gold package set at $400 and general admission at $165.

In other live Metallica news, the band is celebrating the 28th anniversary of its 'Master of Puppets' LP by releasing a free download of its Sept. 21, 1986 concert at the Hammersmith Odeon in London. The show features former guitar tech (and future Metal Church member) John Marshall on rhythm guitar, filling in for the ailing James Hetfield following his broken wrist in a skateboarding accident.
