Megadeth has been forced to cancel the last two dates on their European tour. On Friday (July 15), bassist David Ellefson broke his foot at the Rockmaraton Festival in Dunaújváros, Hungary.

“I want to let all of our fans in the Czech Republic know that our performance tonight at the Masters of Rock has been cancelled,” leader Dave Mustaine said in the video embedded above. “Our bass player [has] received a severe break to his foot. I’m very, very sorry to tell you this, but we will make it up to you next summer. Please hang in there and stay metal.”

In addition to the Masters of Rock show, the also canceled their appearance at Harley Days in Presov, Slovakia. Mustaine made no mention on how this will affect Megadeth’s upcoming tour of South and Central America tour, which begins July 30 in Quito, Ecuador and closes Sept. 3 in Monterrey, Mexico. Maybe Mustaine should see if his band can borrow Dave Grohl‘s throne now that Axl Rose doesn’t need it anymore.

Ellefson’s injury comes as Megadeth made a change to their lineup. Earlier this week, they announced that drummer Chris Adler has left the band after a year to concentrate on Lamb of God, and has been replaced by Dirk Verbeuren, formerly of Swedish metal band Soilwork.

“Chris Adler’s contributions are sure to be felt for years to come,” Mustaine said in a statement. “Megadeth has been revitalized by Chris’ playing, as well as his excellent suggestion of Dirk Verbeuren to drum with us. Tremendous thanks to Chris, and a big welcome to Dirk.”
