Marty Friedman to Release New ‘Wall of Sound’ LP, Launch Solo Tour

Former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman is set to release his 13th solo album, titled Wall of Sound, later this summer.

Due on Aug. 4, Wall of Sound is available to pre-order through Friedman’s official website, where fans can also find ticketing details for his upcoming tour in support of the new LP. Promising the new set “expands and destroys any conventional notions of instrumental music,” Friedman warns, “We’re coming to you direct from Tokyo, to make you smile or make you cry, or even drag you up onstage with us. What’s for sure is that we will definitely get your blood pumping.”

And while he’s known for his guitar prowess, Friedman insists he took a song-first approach to Wall of Sound, spending 18 months refining the compositions until he finally felt like they were good enough to share with his fans. “I could care less about the instrument, which sounds terrible,” he told Billboard. “It’s just the middleman in me getting my music across. I’m way into the music-making, creating, living and breathing the music. That’s all my life is about.”
