Marshall Tucker Band Vs. Lynyrd Skynyrd — Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame Semifinals

Ladies and gentlemen, for this semifinal round of the 100 percent fan-voted Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame we have a Southern Rock Showdown — Lynyrd Skynyrd vs. the Marshall Tucker Band.

Every month, our readers will decide which of eight legendary artists or bands will be honored for their contributions to the genre. In this corner, we have the Marshall Tucker Band, who pulled off a stunning Round One upset of Queen, with 62 percent of the vote.

And in this corner, we have the indomitable Lynyrd Skynyrd. In their opening battle, rock’s ultimate survivors beat Montrose — the band that helped launch Sammy Hagar‘s career — by the same margin.

So which purveyors of that distinctly southern stew of rock, blues and country will make it to the finals? It’s all in your hands. You can cast your ballot once a day between now and Feb. 23, 2014, at 11:59 PM EST. The winner will be announced on March 3. Be sure to read our official rules, and good luck to both of these great Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame candidates!

Next: Aerosmith vs. John Fogerty
