March 2016's new music releases will include a cool collaboration between familiar and newer faces on the rock scene, and an exciting live set from a legacy band in ascension again.

Iggy Pop's upcoming Post Pop Depression album was created with Queens of the Stone Age frontman and Eagles of Death Metal member Josh Homme, who produced the record. The process began, as is so common in the modern age, with a series of texts. The pair then met at California's Joshua Tree National Park; initial tracks for the album were completed in just three weeks.

Meanwhile, Judas Priest is offering a new concert CD/DVD/Blu-ray package commemorating a well-received world tour in support of 2014's Redeemer of Souls. Called Battle Cry, the project feature 15 songs from Priest's 2015 stop at the Wacken Festival in Germany before 85,000 fans. The DVD and Blu-ray editions include three bonus tracks from an appearance the same year in Gdansk, Poland.

All 60 tracks from the Cars' early multi-platinum discography have been collected in a new six-disc box called The Elektra Years 1978-1987. Key moments from the period have also been distilled down into a new single-disc, career-spanning compilation. Remastering was overseen by frontman Ric Ocasek, while the replica sleeves were supervised by drummer David Robinson, who designed the Cars' album covers.

The month will likewise see reissues from Boz Scaggs, Motley Crue and members of Traffic, Derek and the Dominos and Genesis. Elsewhere, looks for live sets from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Todd Rundgren and Cheap Trick.
