Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Concert Will Include Gregg Allman, Peter Frampton + More

A key venue in Lynyrd Skynyrd lore will play host to a tribute concert in honor of the veteran Southern rockers this fall.

On Nov. 12, the band is scheduled to join an impressive list of all-star friends for 'One More for the Fans!,' a Skynyrd celebration to be held at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA. As longtime fans will no doubt recall, the 1976 Lynyrd Skynyrd live album 'One More from the Road' was recorded at the Fox, culled from a show held as part of an initiative to help save the building from destruction.

This time around, the current version of Skynyrd will be joined by a number of special guests, including Gregg Allman, Cheap Trick, Peter Frampton, Warren Haynes and Gov't Mule. The evening is also set to include an appearance by .38 Special singer Donnie Van Zant, whose brother Ronnie co-founded Lynyrd Skynyrd -- and whose brother Johnny has fronted the lineup since the group reformed in 1987.

The show will be filmed and recorded for what the band is calling "multi-platform distribution," with production and music direction being handled by Grammy winner Don Was, who explained his involvement in a press release, saying that "Lynyrd Skynyrd’s music has had a profound and unmistakable influence on artists and fans all over the world." Added executive producer Keith Wortman, "This incredible initial lineup of artists coming together to celebrate this band and their music is a genuine reflection of that."

Tickets for 'One More for the Fans!' are scheduled to go on sale Aug. 18 at the Fox Theatre website.
